Details of Session:

Aim and Scope
Bioinformatics is the application of information technology to the field of molecular biology. Over the past few decades rapid developments, from one hand, in the technological procedures generating vast amount of data and from the other hand, in the information technologies enabling the handling of these data has brought about this exciting new field termed Bioinformatics which aims to shed light into several biological processes.
This invited session aims to provide a platform for researchers to share their ideas, experience and research outcomes in Bioinformatics.
The field of Bioinformatics being by nature a multi disciplinary field, we encourage submissions addressing Bioinformatics related topics seen from many different perspectives. Authors are invited to submit papers based upon academically rigorous research in both theoretical development and applied research.

Subject Coverage

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
The application of smart systems to the Bioinformatics area
Databases in the field of Bioinformatics
Services & Tools in the field of Bioinformatics
High throughput data storage & analysis
Comparative Genomics
Genome wide association studies
Transcriptomics
Proteomics & Bioinformatics
Protein-protein interactions
Molecular evolution & Bioinformatics
Systems Biology
Bioinformatics using Intelligent and Machine Learning Techniques
Bioinformatics and the revolution in scholarly publishing

Instructions for Prospective Authors
All papers must be original, of high quality and of approximately 6?8 pages in length at the publication stage. Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
All papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two experts in the field, and may be accepted for oral presentation. A guide for authors, templates, and other relevant information for submitting papers are available on the Springer Information for LNCS Authors webpage (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0 ).
Full papers and other inquiries must be sent in the form of a pdf file attached to an email, directly to the workshop chair and co-chairs: Erik.Bongcam@hgen.slu.se

teresa.k.attwood@manchester.ac.uk

Publication

The session papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in Lecture Notes in AI as part of the LNCS/LNAI series. Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the KES Journal (http://www.kesinternational.org/journal/ ) (International Journal of Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Engineering Systems).
