It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the 21st biennial Meeting of the EACR to be held in Oslo, Norway, 26-29 June, 2010. This conference is one of the most important cancer meetings in Europe, focusing on basic and discovery driven translational cancer research, bridging the laboratory and the clinic, aiming at converting new knowledge into a reality at the patient level.
EACR 21 will provide the discussion forum for scientists in all fields of cancer research to discuss, debate and exchange cutting edge discovery, as well as offer a series of teaching lectures and workshops focused on novel technologies. Discussion sessions for analysis and interpretation of high throughput data and its readiness for application within early clinical trials will also be key elements of the Congress.
I am delighted that the 21st in the series of prestigious EACR Congresses is coming to Oslo – one of the oldest Nordic Capitals with its 1000 year rich history. The city, surrounded by islands and forested hills, is located at the head of Oslo fjord.
From the Viking age until this very day people have looked to this City as a safe haven for trade, industry and cultural enrichment. Today, Oslo has a population just over 500,000 inhabitants and is the nation’s financial, political and cultural centre, with a spectacular new opera house as well as a major seaport.
Oslo is about contrasts and is also Munch’s and Ibsen’s city. Its beautiful natural surroundings, its varied architecture and its multinational inhabitants contribute to the city’s uniqueness.
