First Stakeholders Meeting of the ELIXIR (European Life sciences Infrastructure for Biological Information) ESFRI project
Background
The European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) published its first roadmap in 2005.
This identified 35 large scale European infrastructure projects that were prioritised for selection following an independent European consultation and peer review process.
The 'Shared platform for Data Resources in the Life Sciences', (based on a major upgrade of EBI - facilities, data resources and services) is one of these prioritised projects.
The European Commission issued a restricted call to coordinators of these projects to submit a proposal for funding for a preparatory planning period.
The European Bioinformatics Institute has prepared and submitted a proposal under the acronym "ELIXIR" (European Life sciences Infrastructure for Biological Information).
Mission
The mission of ELIXIR is to construct and operate a sustainable infrastructure for biological information in Europe to support life science research and its translation to medicine and the environment, the bio-industries and society.
The Stakeholder Meeting
The Stakeholder meeting is the place were the project is presented to all interested parties.
